A release day wouldn’t be a release day without a silly video of a rocket taking off accompanied by some high octane, NOS injected jazz/prog. Right?! Check it….

New Life. New Single. New Video! 💥

Hi everyone,

Thanks for checking in. There’s more breaking news than I can keep up with these days but that’s a nice problem to have!

The first single, the title track from our latest album came out last Friday and the response has been incredible! We are all soaring up on cloud 9 right now. Jazzwise magazine then premiered the video as an exclusive and I’m thrilled to finally be able to share this now with you.

Grab your headphones and get ready. It’s loud. 💥

It's not easy to pin down what exactly has made this album such a radical step up from the first.

Doing a huge tour behind the first record and rehearsing relentlessly ever since, workshopping these tunes for months on end, until they were the absolute best they could be, coming up with the most heart-poundingly, NOS injected arrangements we could possibly conceive...that counted for something.

Recording at the world renowned Livingston Studios - that was pretty cool. Working with MOBO/Grammy and Mercury nominated producer Sonny Johns. That probably helped too.

With this video, we wanted to document our journey as a band so far and the process and thinking behind the creation of our piéce de résistance, our finest work to date, New Life. It was a labour of love.

The album ignites on Ubuntu Music 19/10/2018. Find out all about it here.

Hi everyone,

We're very excited to release this new live video of a track of ours called 'Bliss Out' from the debut record - think Tigran Hamasyan meets Wayne Krantz! This was recorded at Tileyard Studios, King's Cross earlier this year by Sofar Sounds. Please give it a share on social media if you dig it!

Let's go...

Hi everyone,

We're really delighted to announce that we've recently been awarded a grant from PRS foundation that will go towards the cost of our second album, meaning that we've been able to record at a world class recording studio, Livingston 1, with Grammy/Mercury/MOBO nominated producer Sonny Johns. We tracked the album earlier this month and it's sounding absolutely huge, we can't wait to share it with you all! Please follow us on social media and join our mailing list for all the latest updates. Over and out!

It's been hard keeping a lid on this for so long but we are finally clear to reveal that we will be performing at Latitude festival next month! We can't begin to describe how excited we are about this one. We'll be performing on the BBC introducing stage, Lavish Lounge in the Woods, on Saturday 15th July at 20:30.

Hope some of you will be able to join us! It's going to be one hell of a show...

Hi everyone,

Can't begin to describe how much fun we've had out on our tour recently! It's been fantastic to play at a load of new venues and meet some new fans. To everyone who has come out to the gigs and supported us, thank you so much! We can't wait to do it again soon. The last leg is upon us starting this Sunday with a trip down to the West Country, finishing at St Ives jazz club on April 4th.

We've also got some fantastic new gigs to announce for April, including April 6th at Cambridge 'Hidden Rooms' and then a return to London at the legendary Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club on April 18th in a double bill with World Service Project. Yup, we are super excited about that one! Tickets here:

In the meantime, here's a cheeky little clip of an improvised, Wayne Krantz inspired jam from a particularly vibey gig on our tour, Cafe Lento, Leeds, featuring UK electric bass star Robin Mullarkey stepping in on bass. Video courtesy of Nigel Slee from Jazz North. Hope you enjoy it and stay tuned for more....

Lift Off!

FLYING MACHINES are absolutely delighted to declare that our Kickstarter campaign has been nothing short of a total triumph, a whopping great £3,647 raised thanks to the generosity of 117 backers. We never doubted it for a second :)

We attracted a lot of great press throughout the campaign which really helped us to get the word out, big thanks to London Jazz News and Leeds College of Music for some great features!

Things have been moving quickly ever since and we're just about ready to sign off on the master, which sounds every bit as impactful and dynamic as we could have hoped for. Looking forward to sharing it with the world, not long to go now! Stay tuned....
